What an awesome set of events that came together today besides the lack of shear! Rich moisture combined with heating and a deep atmosphere allowed for strong to severe storms to regenerate updrafts rapidly. This specific set of storms was extremely lightning active. Storms to the north and this one created a deep boundary that was able to sustain activity for quite a while and then dump. The result was large hailstones to 3.7cm in diameter and frequent, dangerous cloud to ground lightning! An awesome lightning bolt was captured on video striking 200 metres down the road!
