I wouldn't say it is selfishness but more enthusiasm and perhaps to make the most of our opportunities. I personally don't want storm chasing to be the whole centre of everything I do.
Did a chase yesterday and may go out again today though I have quite a few things to do. Today is more marginal I guess though I wonder if it still can support storms along the boundary. Just checked the latest models and it is not as ideal.
