A shooting star leaving a trail of smoke? This just now 5:54pm. I never saw it but someone with me did - this just after sunset in twilight.
It was green blue at the end but heading west to southwest direction. We are located western Sydney at Oakville near Windsor. The angle above horizon was about 70 to 80 degrees above horizon

How long was it roughly? Could be a meteor, looks similar to a meteor train being blown about by high alt winds.
Probably see some dash cam clips surfacing before long
Can I borrow on of your images for a report please Jimmy?
and to be 100% certain, this was NOT an aircraft, this was a definite meteor? Only lasting a second or so.
The lady said shooting star very bright ending with a green blue glow.
seen it happen several times… depends on the angle it hits
Seen in Canberra as well.
This says 650pm so maybe another one?
I wonder if it was a piece of space debris? Leaving smoke is unique.
Heaps of people saw the same thing Jimmy. Lots of reports coming through.
I like the last comment ;)
I’ve see meteors at high azimuth so bright, that they’ve they cast shadows and leave debris trails. Meteors can do that and so can space junk.
Remember the 1 in Russia a few years back? Produced 1 hell of a cloud trail and a loud sonic boom.
