Westfield Hornsby was damaged and a number if injuries occurred as what was described as a tornado hit the region. A storm with a substantial base and the bases being low made for this being the ideal situation for tornado development. We shall see what the outcome is in the end. Jeff Brislane posted an image of the Doppler and conventional reflectivity radar of the event and it shows a couplet at that time.

The Bureau of Meteorology has confirmed that the severe weather event was consistent with a tornado with a narrow path extending for 2 kilometres. Very interesting and it demonstrates the importance of low bases!
