I must say I am bewildered with this particular heat wave. I personally do not recall such a hot January where temperatures have exceed 30C almost every day - and this includes most temperatures being in the mid to high 30s! And it also is surprising that for a week now the Bureau have been forecasting 43 - 44C for the weekend coming! Wow - that is game by any standards - let alone trying to forecast a day ahead temperatures 43C to 44C!
Anyway, prior to this occurring, I have taken any opportunities to chase storms. The most recent storm chase was on the 4th February when Nick Moir and I intercepted a severe storm near Lithgow. This cell literally exploded another level beyond the shallow anvil. A pictures is included here:
