Storms developed during the afternoon in response to the approach of a positive tilt upper trough passing through the south and central parts of NSW. A warning was issued for the Central and Southern Tablelands for strong winds and hail. This was followed by a modest lightning show in Sydney.
The storms were significantly high based due to warm temperatures and deficient moisture.
